...and for the first time is years, all the shopping is done, presents are wrapped (okay I have one left to wrap), and I'm in a relatively good mood.
I have been pleasantly surprised with the general mood of people in my area. Shopping was pretty easy, didn't have any annoying, crazy people to deal with. Well, the drive to the shops was annoying, but that's what happens when you live within a few miles of a mall/loads of shops.
I thought the husband was going to kill me during the shopping excursions. Everything he picked out for people wasn't good enough in my opinion. I'm very picky when it comes to getting gifts. They have to be perfect and almost jump out at me. I'm also insane, so yeah.
Best thing about this year, I don't have to go to the mother-in-laws place! Woo! I swear it's the same routine every holiday for my husband. No phone calls, emails, anything. Then the day before someone mentions or asks if he'll be going to his mothers. Then they get angry with him when he says he already made other plans and that no one called him to let him know what was happening or where it was taking place.
I know that he could have called to double check, but if you knew his family...ugh. Lets just say that it would have mattered. Plus, it also means that there will be no 'awesome' re-gift from his mother. I think she forgets I exist sometimes, then when I show up its like a smack in the face that I'm still around. I'd be happier if she just wouldn't give me anything. I wouldn't have to fake being surprised with the crap she's given me.
Anyhoo, to anyone who reads this, have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Yule, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Festivus, Happy Gift Giving day, or whatever other holiday you choose to observe this year. I hope it's a good one.
